Nepal.
Bhusal S. J., R. B. Thapa, F. P. Neupane and Y. D. GC. 2007. IAAS Research Advances Vol. 2. Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. pp. 69-71.
Keywords: Beekeeping, package bee colonies, continuous brood rearing, initially broodless colonies
An experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with
three beekeeping packages: i) Continuous brood rearing, ii) initially brood
less, and iii) package bee colonies, replicated eight times to test beekeeping
packages on mite incidence and honey production of
Apis mellifera L., which was
conducted by migrating those colonies to Dang, Nawalparasi and Chitwan
throughout the honey flow season of 2002/ 2003. The study indicated delayed mite
incidence (in April) with 1.25 and 1.21 times (28.28 kg and 27.35 kg) higher
honey yield/colony in later packages, respectively, as compared to continuous
brood rearing colonies (22.55 kg/colony), in which the mite incidence was
continuous from November to completion of this study. |
