Performance of farmers’ field school (FFS) approach in
promoting integrated pest management (IPM) technology of rice in Chitwan.

study was conducted to analyze the performance of Farmers’ Field School (FFS) in
promoting IPM technology. The method of training employed was combination of
demonstration, question answer, group discussion with lecture except for Hardi
FFS group, which excludes lecture. For this purpose, 12 respondents from each of
eight FFS group were surveyed using the semi-structured questionnaire. The
average family size of the respondents was 5.76. Agriculture remaining the main
source of income, the average size of land holding was 0.86 ha, of which 86.04%
of the respondents had irrigated land. The mean annual income of the respondents
was Rs. 98,075.0. The study revealed that there was overall significant increase
in area under rice cultivation and production as well. |
