Six treatments viz., Metarhizium
anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana, Verticillium lecanii, margosom, endosulfan
and one control wer evaluated against mustard aphid (Lipaphis
erysimi Kalt.) on rapeseed crop. All gave significant protection against
aphid over control. However, endosulfan was the most effective as compared to
other treatments. The population reduction over control due to endosulfan was
89.98% after 3 days of spray, which was decreased to 87.53% and 74.32% after 6th
and 9th day of first spray respectively. Similar trend was observed in
subsequent sprays. The population reduction of
L. erysimi over control due to
margosom, V. lecanii, B. bassiana and
M. anisopliae after three days of
spray was 57.75%, 47.36%, 46.81% and 40.43% in first spray while it was 54.64%,
48.99%, 43.44% and 40.30% in case of second spray, respectively. Aphid
monitoring with yellow pan water trap showed aphid occurrence since middle of
the November 2005 with initial catches of 6 aphids/trap. The peak population (27
aphids/trap) of aphids recorded on 19 January 2006. Monitoring study with yellow
pan trap revealed, trapping increases with low temperature and high relative
humidity.
