Veterinary Teaching Hospital
Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) with modest facilities has been operating
since 2000. All the veterinary faculties of different faculties are
the members
of this teaching hospital. It provides clinical services to the farm animals at
the hospital. It helps to facilitate the clinical aspects for the better leaning
to the students studying in this program. Nearly, 15-20 cases of livestock and
poultry are examined at VTH daily. VTH is established under IAAS and the Director of VTH is responsible for the
management of the hospital and co-ordination of veterinary faculties.
Objectives:
The VTH has the following
objectives:
1. To provide quality and less
expensive services to the farmers by skilled and specialized veterinarians.
2. To conduct varieties of
research activities in the field of livestock health, production and
management.
3. To provide practical
knowledge and skills to the students of B.V.Sc. & A.H. program.
Facilities and services available at VTH:

Outdoor patient service: The animals brought to VTH during the
hospital hours are taken care at the clinic and examined, diagnosed and
treated by duty veterinarian and clinical students. The advance and
complicated cases are referred to respective departments for further
investigation and study purpose. Different kinds of cases coming to VTH
is shown in the figure.

Laboratory Facilities: The routine examination of faeces, urine,
blood and milk are done regularly. The culture of milk,
water
and antibiotic sensitive test are routine procedure.

PM Section, AI section,
X-ray unit:
Different special sections
are setup for the specific diagnostic tools. These facilities support
the hospital for standard diagnostic service. Similarly, AI facility is
also provided through the hospital to livestock farm of the campus as
well as neighboring villages.
Besides these the VTH provide following services:
a. Animal health and infertility camps are conducted
by national and international experts in collaboration with dairy
cooperatives at village/community level coordinated by the Directorate of
Extension, IAAS.
b. Ambulatory service is available on farmers call.
