Directorate of Extension

Directorate of Extension (DOE) under the Dean's Office is operating for extension of research findings to farmers. DOE is mandated to formulate program and policies and delivery of new research findings to target groups.  It also establishes coordination with government line agencies and private sectors involving agricultural research, teaching and extension. Extension program was formally initiated after the establishment of the Directorate of Extension in 1999. It organizes short courses for farmers, extension and development workers and provides veterinary health services through mobile veterinary health camps. It also provides technical services, seeds, and planting materials to the farmers.  DOE is also in the process of improving and keeping the website (website www.iaas.edu.np) more active, informative and useful than earlier. The main responsibilities are:

  • Collaborating and coordinating various extension activities of the Directorate of Extension and other institutions from Nepal and all over the world for allowing extension function of the institute to achieve targeted goals
  • Organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, summer/winter schools, campaign etc. for the benefit of rural people, extension workers, faculties and other clientele groups
  • Linking farmers with newly emerging globalized world by providing them information and guidance
  • Synthesizing a vision for the directorate with input from faculty, staff, and stakeholders that include all programs related to extension
  • Acquiring resources to develop the capacity of directorate through grants, contracts, gifts, government budgets and other resources
  • Developing a strong, joint team for the directorate by attracting talents
  • To work as per the directives of the Dean of IAAS
