IAAS Alumni Association
IAAS-AA is a non-political, non-profitable and volunteer
organization for develo ping
common understanding and co-operation between the alumni
members, IAAS and IAAS’s students, established in 2055 BS
(1998 AD). The organization is a common forum of the
IAAS-AA’s ex-students of all the agriculture/ animal
science/ veterinary graduates who had at least one of their
academic years from IAAS. The organization aims at
supporting the agricultural, animal science and veterinary
professionals for their skill development and quality
services to enhance professional development in the country
through better agriculture planning, research, education and
implementation to elevate livelihood of the Nepalese people.
More than 5500 graduates have taken one or more of
their academic qualifications from IAAS to date. They have
been working in diversified fields, such as technology
generation, agriculture extension, teaching & research,
social mobilization, agri-business promotion, food trade and
marketing, input and credit supports and so on. In spite of
scarce resources, difficult geographical situation and poor
organizational support, they are working with their
benevolent endeavor to support agricultural/ livestock
production in the country. IAAS-AA has been working with its
motto: "Grow for Nepal". Besides maintaining unity and
coherence among its members, IAAS-AA also feels
responsibility towards the agricultural/livestock situation
of Nepal, whether it be the issue of
production, or trade.
The association keeps interest in different aspects of
agriculture development initiating from farmers field to
national policy levels. For example, the association has
requested Govt. of Nepal to take initiation for an effective
implementation of Agriculture Perspective Plan (APP). The
association aims at mainstreaming the developmental
organizations, i.e. GOs, (IAAS, research, extension, and
credit agencies), INGOs, NGOs/CBOs, POs, and individuals for
increasing food security and poverty alleviation in a
cooperative and coordinated approach for the
commercialization of agriculture in
Nepal. The association also
aims to mitigate with corruption, policy lobbying on
agriculture production, trade, industry, and re-establishing
the agriculture as an attractive business for the Nepalese
youth prevent brain-drain from the country.
Moreover, the association also aims to support IAAS, its
source of inception in different ways, to produce the
qualified graduates and to raise its concern and support to
develop IAAS to the peak of
Agriculture
University. Circulation of the publications of IAAS
to the association members is also the common agenda of
concern to its members.
