>> The Directorate of Research and Publication
The Institute of
Agriculture and Animal Sciences (IAAS), an integral part of
Tribhuvan University was established in 1972. One of the three
main objectives of IAAS is to conduct basic and adaptive researches
and publish their results along with the production of medium and
high level technical manpower in Agriculture and Veterinary sciences
to meet the needs of Nepal and dissemination of the research
findings through outreach programs. Formally, research
activities at IAAS began in 1977 when a ‘Research Committee’ was
organized under the Dean of the Institute. One secretary was
appointed from among the members of the Research Committee to carry
out its duties and responsibilities. In 1987, the committee was
reformed as per the Tribhuvan University Regulations, Section 312
(1986).
The duties and
responsibilities of the Research Committee are to:
1. Formulate
research policies and coordinate research activities at IAAS;
2.
Prioritize research programs, maintain standards for research and
provide financial assistance and technical guidance to the
IAAS scientists;
3. Review and
approve research proposals of faculties and students for funding and
4. Supervise the
internally and externally funded research projects.
In 1989, the IAAS
created a Directorate of Research and Publication (DOR) to assist
the Research Committee in carrying out its duties and
responsibilities. The establishment of DOR is an internal
arrangement within IAAS. The office is headed by a Director. The
Director is assisted by a Deputy Director.
The funds
internally generated by IAAS or the grant money received from
internal or external funding agencies on meritorious basis are the
only resources being used for the research programs. At present,
more than 50 internally, nationally and internationally funded
research programs are in operation
